Some of this depends on how tough the dishes are. While taking a lot of room, I can see possibilitiles in a conveyer sorter. Concept one: Dishes are dumped onto a conveyer that is on a sideways slant. Operator initially only has to see that they are one layer deep. Use of multiple belts runing side by side at different speeds and textures may be able to ...

Budweiser made some design modification to regain its marketing and branding endeavours which had seen huge decline in sales threatening Budweiser's status as America's Best selling beer. The new design emphasized the iconic bowtie and updated its appearance giving it a eye-catching look, providing good holding experience which was easy to grip. After can ...

Modern digital projector use a technique called DLP(digital light processing). They use an array of micromirorrs in order to point the white light source(often a bulb) that goes through a filter to become colored (red, green or blue). There is a mirror for each pixel and it direct light to the projecting lens or to an absorber depending on if the pixel ...

if the film was fed smoothly past the lens and bulb, your eye wouldn't see a series of pictures- all you'd see would be a continuous blurry smear. So instead, the projector pulls one frame of film into the optical gate, stops the film there for a brief instant while the light shines through it, and then pulls the next frame of film in, stops it, etc. This ...

I think you could hack any poppet valve engine block to create a rapid pressure swing adsorbtion machine, but better to start with a block designed as a compressor in the first place. Lubricating oil sequestering would be an issue. Most people don't really understand the relationship between manufacturing, logistics, and assembly. They probably think they ...

Consider the use of a double-lip seal. Figure 1. A double-lipped seal in the false base of the tube. This can then be inserted from the top of the tube to take advantage of the tapered edge. It seems to me that increasing the pressure in the top side will increase the seal tightness but check with someone that uses these things. (I'm an electrical engineer....

For such a small vessel containing only water : A submersible pump would seem to solve all your problems. There are hundreds to choose from depending on capacity. These pumps start pricing around $ 10 ( US) last I looked . Search aquarium ,pond, or fountain pumps on the net ,( I often find what I want at "Big Als" - Canada).

Generally I would recommend against heating a plastic container with a resistance heater (like a hot plate or mug warmer) unless you know for a fact it has a hardware shutoff that will kick in well below the melting point. Hardware failures do happen, and I've personally seen a runaway hot plate almost melt an unattended plastic container (full of alcohol!)....

A merchandise container design is a fusion of art, marketing, branding, nudging public opinion, and many more factors. This design is bold, exciting, and stands out from the shelf in the store to when you hold it in your hand to when you discard it. It has been so successful that has made its way here even. Seems they have surmounted the manufacturing ...

You will have some of the same considerations of creating a mold when using wood as when using metal. Underhangs/undercuts are to be avoided. Corners are to be radiused, no sharp edges. Alignment of mold halves must be ensured. For your listed considerations, it doesn't appear that a wood mold, especially one made from hardwood would be a problem. With ...

There are already comercial products like this. They exist primarily in the asian market. They usually consist of a vertical machine which moves along a rail at the top and bottom of the board. There are two common approaches: Water Vacuum The water approach is what most would be familliar with. It has been used for ages with the usual handheld sponge. ...

To put it as an answer I might be able to expand it a little bit. Measuring ergonomic suitability is really subjective. From my experiences there are obvious guidelines but even those are not clear matrices of numbers. They are more like: Make sure the handle is long enough to support various sizes of hands and is textured to provide grip. Avoid positioning ...

Automotive manufacturing encompasses a wide range of types of devices, many of which are broadly similar in terms of their structure and function to medical devices. e.g. processing electronics, actuators, sensors, feedback displays. They are also reasonably similar in the size of devices they make - this sort-of makes sense from an abstract perspective, as ...

I believe your primary goal when transitioning from single prototypes to small batch production should be to improve manufacturability, and ensure that your design is scalable. Examples of parts/systems that may need to be revised: Parts that were made without drawings, for example by match drilling, or "freestyling" Parts that are not easily obtainable in ...
