why is it that when measuring pressure drop across a solid particle bed at different fluid flows the pressure drop profile looks different?

When you measure pressure drop while increasing fluid flow, a sort of hump is observed at the incipient fluidization point, and when you measure pressure drop as flow decreases, that is no longer there.
