I am new to manufacturing and especially to composites. I have a cylinder to be made out of carbon fiber (only the outer shell) and I know the weight I want from this structure after manufacturing. Is there a way to calculate the number of layers required for this process assuming a 1 to 1 ratio between the resin and the reinforcement. Really sorry if this question doesn’t make sense or not clear enough

$\begingroup$ Calculate the perimeter them multiply by length and you have surface area. Then take the mass per square meter of the carbon fibre fabric and the total mass : bit of algebra and you should have a solution... $\endgroup$
