It is clear that one method of over heat protection of solar water heating systems is to drain water from the collectors into a reservoir so this way the system is protected from overheating of the solar water, I also know that there is a fluid inside the heat pipes which evaporates (by absorbing heat from sun) and condenses (by cold solar water absorbing heat from the heat pipe condenser) so if we drain the system isn't there a risk that the heat pipe will overheat?
